Culture Night is here and we will be out and about experiencing a dizzying array of cultural delights across Copenhagen! The programme of events can be overwhelming, so if you are a bit lost don’t worry – we’ve picked a few highlights to help you make the most of the evening! Most events area open from 6pm – midnight, simply buy a Culture Pass from a 7Eleven store, get out there and enjoy!
1. Culture Night at Overgaden
Food, art and music – need we say more?
The Overgaden Institute for Contemporary Art is collaborating with the food concept makers Smag og Rum (“Taste & space”) to bring you a specially created evening of food, art and electronic music. Smag og Rum work with set design, creative and visual expression and flavour, and have developed an experience around the theme of Overgaden’s current current exhibition TRUST, complemented by three different electronic music concerts.
2. Sound and Lights at the Botanic Gardens
A true crowd pleaser
A favourite every year, the Botanic Gardens are transformed in to a magical wonderland of light and sound interplaying with the palmhouse and water features of the park. Wrap up warm and head there for a truly memorable experience.
3. Culture Night at Kødbyen
Spend the evening in Kødbyen
There’s so much going on in Culture Night just in Kødbyen itself you could easily spend the whole night here! Visit the DGI-Byen, Fotografisk Center, Husets Teater, Billedskolen, Warehouse 9, Teaterbutikken, Råhuset og MUVE where you can climb walls, make your own photographs, get lost in a theatrical maze, hear anecdotes from Kødbyens history, live music, lights, visuals and, of course, eat some delicious food -what Kødbyen is most famous for!
4. Culture Night at Charlottenborg Kunsthal
Art, music and fun times with Jes Brinch
Danish artist Jes Brinch brings his latest exhibition “ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE” – problems and alternatives to Charlottenborg Kunsthal. Throughout the night, together with a DJ-extravaganza, Jes Brinch has created a show that unfolds ideas through live events exploring the cross section between music and visual arts.
5. Culture night at CISPA I Teater i Gærkælderen
Site specific theatre at Carlsberg
Copenhagen International School of Performing Arts takes over Gærkælderen (The Yeast Cellar) for a series of theatrical scenarios across 5 different floors of the building. The scenarios are performed in English and repeated cyclically throughout the evening for the audience to join at any point and watch as many performances as they want.
6. Culture night at the Danish Architecture Centre
Get building at DAC!
Start off with a glass of champagne at the exhibition opening of “Groundbreaking Construction – 100 Danish Breakthroughs that Changed the world”. There will be a series of workshops at the centre around this theme – building with lego, learn about new materials, and light the facade of the building!
7. Afterparty at the Dome of Visions
Culture Night doesn’t have to end at midnight!
Join a secret pop up event from 8pm, right in the heart of the city, in the unique setting of Copenhagen’s space-dome the Dome of Visions, right next to the Black Diamond and overlooking the harbour. The event will be followed by a DJ set in the same space from 11pm onwards, where you can party in to the night.
